How Much Does It Cost to Install a Water Heater?

The average cost of water heater installation ranges from $1000 to $3000, depending on the model.

Step 1 – CONSULTATION

You’ll need to give as much information as possible about your existing unit, such as:

  • Size of the water heater
  • Where it’s located
  • Whether it runs on gas or electricity
  • Whether it’s a tank or tankless model

Following this information, our expert will suggest the water heater model that matches your specific requirements and will provide pricing and financing options.

Once you’ve decided to go ahead with the installation, a time will be arranged for you.

Step 2 – PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION

There are a few things you can do to prepare for your installation appointment.

To begin, take photographs of the installation site. A visual reference will assist our service providers in operating more efficiently.

Take photographs of the following with your phone or digital camera and send them to your service provider as soon as possible:

  • Vents
  • Electrical outlets
  • Connection points
  • Surrounding areas

Finally, make sure the installation location is clean. Remove all debris or litter from the location, and keep your animals in another room of the home while you work. There should also be a clear route for the service provider to bring the new water heater into your house. Make sure to measure your doors so you can get the best access for your tank water heater type.

Step 3 – DURING THE APPOINTMENT

On the day of your water heater installation appointment, you can anticipate the following:

Your service provider will contact you when the installer is on his or her way, usually about an hour before the scheduled visit time. After you call, an Alabama Plumbing & Drain service provider will come out to your house. At the entrance, a professional will display their Service Provider badge and conduct a thorough walkthrough to ensure that the scope of work is correct. Once you’ve decided to go ahead, the installation can begin. It may take a few hours or more to install, depending on the complexity of your house and whether there are any special requirements.

    Tank to Tank installation:

On average, replacing a gas or electric water tank with a comparable model takes two to three hours. It takes 45 to 60 minutes to drain, disconnect, and remove your old water heater. It takes approximately 30 minutes to position the new unit, and another 45 to 60 minutes to double-check that all components are in compliance and that any necessary wiring has been completed.

    Tank to Tankless installation:

The installation process for a tankless design is longer than that of a water tank. Perpendicular and overhead garage door installation also takes time. The cost of this project will be determined by labor and material expenses. New power and water lines, as well as air vents, must be installed in addition to the existing ones. After that, the tankless device must be installed and linked.

    Tankless to Tankless Installation:

Most of the time, it takes between one and three hours.

    Step 4 – REMOVAL AND POST-INSTALLATION

After your new water heater is set up, your service provider will tidy the area, remove your old one, and give information on how to maintain it. If you have any queries or require further information about caring for your new water heater, call us at 256-224-9227.
